Abstract

This article explores the concept of "wish-desire" as depicted in English and Uzbek fairy tales, examining how this category reflects cultural values, societal norms, and psychological motivations. By analyzing various narratives from both traditions, the study highlights similarities and differences in the portrayal of wishes and desires, as well as their implications for character development and plot progression. The article employs comparative literary analysis to uncover how these tales serve not only as entertainment but also as vehicles for moral lessons and cultural identity. Additionally, it addresses the linguistic nuances associated with expressing desire in both languages, contributing to a deeper understanding of cross-cultural storytelling dynamics. Ultimately, this research aims to enrich the field of comparative literature by offering insights into how fairy tales shape and are shaped by the collective aspirations of their respective cultures.
