HALLAQ’S THEORETICAL APPROACH TO THE ISSUES OF IJTIHAD AND TAQLEED
Abstract
This article examines the views of Islamic legal scholar Wael Hallaq on the issue of modern ijtihad. Ijtihad, the process of independent reasoning in resolving Sharia-related issues, holds significant importance in the Muslim world, particularly in its contemporary interpretation. Hallaq, in his research, advocates for revisiting traditional principles of ijtihad in light of modern social, political, and legal contexts.
