PRAGMATIC POSSIBILITIES OF DISCOURSE MARKERS
Abstract
Recent years have seen a sharp rise in research on spoken language in authentic settings. The lexicons: well, you know that we employ in our every-day life are common language but escaped attention in dialogues. It has generated interest among lots of people as they have been “substantial interest to researchers studying situated language use because of their role in demarcating discourse connections as well as their potential for indexing social relationships” (Bolden, 2008, page 102) The primary focus of this research is to evaluate the theoretical perspectives on discourse markers which have developed and emerged during the last century.
