Abstract

Epilepsy is a prevalent chronic neurological disorder that primarily manifests as recurrent seizures, significantly affecting children and posing risks to their cognitive and developmental progress. The study aims to explore the critical role of early detection and prevention strategies in mitigating the long-term consequences of epilepsy among pediatric populations. Recent advancements in diagnostic tools—such as neuroimaging techniques (MRI and CT), electroencephalography (EEG), genomic testing, and AI-based diagnostics—are examined for their effectiveness in facilitating timely diagnosis. Additionally, the research identifies key risk factors for epilepsy in children, including prenatal and perinatal complications, genetic predispositions, and environmental triggers. The analysis highlights the importance of implementing preventive strategies, such as maternal health care, vaccination programs, community awareness initiatives, and lifestyle modifications, to reduce the incidence of epilepsy. Findings underscore the need for a multidisciplinary approach to epilepsy management, emphasizing the necessity for ongoing research and public health initiatives aimed at improving early intervention programs. This proactive framework can significantly enhance outcomes for children at risk of epilepsy while alleviating the broader societal impact of the disorder.
