MORPHOLOGICAL FEATURES OF PLEOMORPHIC TUMORS OF THE SALIVARY GLANDS
Abstract
This article examines the morphological features of pleomorphic adenoma of the salivary glands. There are four types of pathomorphological adenoma: classical, mesenchymal, epithelial and myoepithelial. The tumor often lacks a continuous capsule (membrane) and therefore can recur after radical removal. Pleomorphic adenomas, especially those with predominantly myxoid areas, recur more often.
