A MODERN PERSPECTIVE ON THE CHOICE OF ABDOMINOPLASTY FOR VENTRAL HERNIAS WITH PTOSIS OF THE ANTERIOR ABDOMINAL WALL
Abstract
Abdominoplasty, a widely performed surgical procedure, involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the abdominal wall, often combined with hernia repair in patients with ventral or incisional hernias. This review examines the evolution of abdominoplasty, including its historical development, various surgical techniques, and outcomes. The main approaches-classical, vertical, combined, and mini-abdominoplasty-are discussed, with considerations of abdominal ptosis degree, fatty tissue volume, and potential complications.
