INGLIZ VA O‘ZBEK TILLARIDA ZIYORATGOH NOMLARINING ETIMOLOGIK VA SEMANTIK TAHLILI
Abstract
This article offers both an etymological and semantic exploration of toponyms associated with pilgrimage sites, shrine, in both English and Uzbek. The research scrutinizes how these place names encapsulate the religious, cultural, and historical milieus from which they originate. It delves into the linguistic structures, origins, and meanings of names for pilgrimage sites in both languages, accentuating the similarities and disparities influenced by the predominant religious traditions—Christianity in English-speaking areas and Islam in Uzbek-speaking regions. By analyzing prominent pilgrimage locations in both cultures, the article illuminates the deep socio-cultural significance embedded in these sacred place names. The study not only examines the linguistic elements of these toponyms but also their connections to local history, geography, and religious practices, providing a comprehensive view of their importance and impact.
