THE ROLE AND IMPORTANCE OF HISTORY IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIETY
Abstract
This article examines the role and importance of history in the development of society. History serves as an essential source of knowledge about the political, social, economic, cultural, and spiritual development of humanity. Studying historical events and the experiences of previous generations helps individuals understand the causes and consequences of social changes, develop critical thinking, and draw valuable lessons for the future. The article also highlights the significance of historical memory in preserving national identity, strengthening patriotism, and promoting respect for cultural heritage. Particular attention is given to the role of history education in shaping the worldview, civic responsibility, and moral values of young people. In addition, the article emphasizes that a comprehensive understanding of the past contributes to a better understanding of contemporary social processes and supports the sustainable development of society. The study concludes that history is not merely a record of past events but an important intellectual and educational tool for understanding the present and building a better future.
