ON THE COGNITIVE MECHANISMS OF TRANSLATING IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS IN THE PROCESS OF TEACHING KOREAN TO RUSSIAN-SPEAKING LEARNERS

Abstract

This article presents a cognitive interpretation of idiomatic expressions in the Korean language, where translation requires knowledge and consideration of the ethnographic and cultural-historical features of the studied language. Idioms are generally ambiguous linguistic units that accumulate various perspectives and types of evaluation from native Korean speakers. Analyzing the origins of idiomatic expressions allows us to conclude that studying their origins contributes to understanding and realizing the deeper meanings of these linguistic units and, consequently, their correct and appropriate use in various communicative situations of modern reality.
