Abstract

Parkinson's disease, one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases, affects approximately 8.5 million people worldwide. Over the past 25 years, the prevalence of the disease has doubled. In 2019, the disease resulted in 5.8 million disability-adjusted life years, which is 81% more compared to 2000. In 2019, around 329,000 deaths from this disease were recorded, which is also twice as many as in 2000.
