Abstract

In many cultures, proverbs with antonyms can reflect social expectations and the need to navigate social relationships effectively. Antonyms often represent opposites that are culturally significant, such as the balance between honor and shame, generosity and selfishness, or success and failure. Proverbs that employ such antonyms convey the weight of these social expectations and the consequences of deviating from them.
