CULTURAL CONVERSATIONS: UNDERSTANDING SPEECH ECONOMY IN BRITISH AND UZBEK COMMUNICATION
Abstract
This article explores the differences in communication styles between British and Uzbek cultures through the lens of high- and low-context communication. It examines how these styles impact speech economy, highlighting the importance of politeness, indirectness, and cultural references in British communication, alongside the use of subtlety and contextual understanding in Uzbek interactions. By providing authentic examples, the article illustrates how these communication methods affect clarity and relationship-building in diverse settings. Understanding these styles is crucial for effective intercultural communication, allowing individuals to navigate social situations with empathy and respect.
