Abstract

This article explores the essence of professional and creative competence of a higher education teacher engaged in educational activities at technical universities, using the example of teaching the discipline "Materials Science." Competence is interpreted as an integrative characteristic of a person, combining knowledge, skills, abilities, as well as personal and motivational qualities. Special attention is given to creative competence as a set of abilities for innovative thinking, solving non-standard problems, conducting scientific activities, and creating an educational environment that fosters students' creative development. The structure of creative competence is substantiated, and practical ways to form and develop it are proposed. The importance of an individualized approach, the use of modern technologies, and the involvement of students in research and project activities are emphasized.
