THE CONCEPT OF TIME IN COGNITIVE LINGUISTICS: UNIVERSALS AND CULTURAL VARIATIONS
Abstract
This article explores the concept of "time" from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, with special attention to its universal cognitive characteristics and culturally specific manifestations in the languages of various ethnic groups. Particular focus is given to metaphorical models of time, its spatial localization, and the cultural conditioning of temporal representations. Examples are provided from the Russian, English, Chinese, and Uzbek linguistic worldviews. The analysis is conducted with consideration of translating this work into English.
