LINGUOCULTURAL ASPECTS IN THE CATEGORIZATION OF ENGLISH AND UZBEK PROBLEMS ACCORDING TO THE TYPE OF ANSWER

Abstract

This article analyzes English and Uzbek riddles based on the categories of their answers. To accomplish this, examples of riddles from both languages ​​were collected and classified according to the objects of their answers (such as humans, animals, plants, objects, etc.). During the research, comparative structural and semantic features of the riddles were studied, highlighting their linguistic and cultural aspects. Results indicate that answer-based categories of English and Uzbek riddles are mostly similar, as riddles in both languages ​​primarily rely on metaphorical comparisons and descriptive imagery. However, English riddles more frequently employ wordplay (homonyms), while Uzbek riddles widely reflect realia specific to the people's lifestyle and nature. Additionally, the article discusses structural-semantic analysis and linguocultural characteristics of riddles, supported by scientific sources and examples.
