PRAGMATIC ASPECTS OF COMPLEX SYNTACTIC CONSTRUCTIONS (BASED ON THE MATERIALS OF ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES)
Abstract
This article explores the pragmatic functions of complex syntactic constructions in English and Uzbek, focusing on how such structures convey nuanced meanings beyond their surface-level grammatical forms. It examines various complex syntactic forms – such as conditionals, indirect speech, and embedded clauses – highlighting their roles in facilitating politeness, mitigating assertiveness, and expressing nuanced speaker attitudes. By analyzing examples from both languages, the study uncovers how complex constructions serve as tools for managing interpersonal relationships and adjusting speech based on context. Through a comparative analysis, this study aims to enhance our understanding of the relationship between syntax and pragmatics and contribute to the broader field of linguistic pragmatics.
