THE ROLE AND IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL INTELLIGENCE IN DEVELOPING MEDIA LITERACY IN STUDENTS
Abstract
This article explores the role and importance of social intelligence in the development of media literacy among students. In the digital age, where information is abundant and constantly evolving, it is essential for students to not only understand how to access and analyze media content, but also to critically evaluate and engage with it. Social intelligence, which includes the ability to understand social dynamics, empathize with others, and communicate effectively, significantly contributes to the enhancement of media literacy. The article discusses how social intelligence influences students’ ability to critically assess media messages, understand social media dynamics, foster empathy, and collaborate in digital spaces. It also highlights the importance of integrating social intelligence development in educational settings to prepare students for responsible and informed media consumption in an increasingly interconnected world.
