Abstract

Background: The global epidemic of obesity and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) has led to an increasing prevalence of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH)-related cirrhosis. Bariatric surgery has emerged as a potentially transformative intervention for carefully selected patients with obesity and liver cirrhosis.
