Abstract

Vitiligo is a chronic skin condition characterized by the loss of pigmentation, resulting in white patches on the skin. This condition occurs when melanocytes, the cells responsible for producing pigment (melanin), are destroyed. Although the exact cause of vitiligo is not fully understood, it is believed to involve autoimmune, genetic, and environmental factors. While several treatment options exist—such as topical corticosteroids, phototherapy, and surgical procedures—many patients seek more effective and less invasive alternatives. One such emerging treatment is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy.
